Our evidence-based approach has developed from a unique and in-depth knowledge of how terrorist groups recruit, maintain and further radicalise members, changing them from ordinary citizens into people prepared to die and kill for an idea.
The Open Minds approach differs from others because it uses the ideologically neutral model of cultic abuse as a guide to understanding, recognising and reporting radicalisation and because it avoids any kind of profiling. Our aim is to inspire all staff in any organisation with the confidence to engage with the challenges presented by the Prevent Duty.
Many people find the task of challenging the ideologies of various extremist and terrorist groups particularly daunting. Focusing on behavioural changes as well as recognising changes in people’s beliefs allows a more robust approach to this challenge.
